The 8th annual LA Sports Fans Choice was held January 10, 2008.

This year's program featured a Lifetime Achievement Award to former Lakers star and current Sparks coach Michael Cooper as well as a Commitment to Excellence Tribute to LA Galaxy star Cobi Jones.

Young up and coming players demonstrating skills and promising futures were nominated for this year’s 2007 Rising Star Award. Nominees included:

The award for Rising Star went to: Lakers Andrew Bynum

Athletes nominated by fans and local sports media for Most Valuable Player went head to head with their peers for this dubious honor.This year's field of nominees included:

J.S. Giguere of the Ducks took MVP honors this year!

More than 40 athletes and celebrities attended this event and the program supported the City of Hope of Southern California.

We also honored this year's Albertsons Jr Achiever winners. These kids wrote exceptional essays on why teamwork is important to them, and were selected from thousands of entries to receive a special award at the event.
